Hello! ? I am Claire McFall, the author of Ferryman. I am very excited that Ferryman has been translated into Chinese so that I can share my story with readers in China – and now it’s here in hardback, too! I wrote Ferryman to retell the Greek myth of Charon, but I have been studying and now know that China has its own myths about ferryman to guide the souls of the dead, too.
In Scotland, where I am from and where the book is set, Ferryman won the Scottish Children’s Book Award – which made me very happy as the award is determined by readers. It was also nominated for the Carnegie Medal, long-listed for the UK Literary Association Book Awards and the Branford Boase Award, and shortlist for the Grampian Children’s Book Awards and the Coventry Inspiration Book Awards. As well as the original English and now Chinese, Ferryman has also been translated into Turkish.
