ACT 考试概述
ACT(American College Test)考试即“美国大学入学考试”,与SAT考试一样被视为“美国高考”。它们既是美国大学的入学条件之一,又是大学发放奖学金的主要依据之一以及对学生综合能力的测试标准。ACT考试被美国所有大学认可。然而和SAT不同,ACT考试更像一种学科考试,它更强调考生对课程知识的掌握,同时也考虑到了对考生独立思考和判断能力的测试。从难度上看,ACT考试比SAT更容易一些,尤其对中国的考生来说,选择ACT考试可能更容易在短期内获得相对满意的成绩。ACT考试不分I和II。它包括四个部分:数学、文章改错、阅读、科学推理。这里值得一提的是科学推理,这部分整合高中物理、化学、生物等学科,综合在一张卷子上,以推理题目的形式出现。出题方式比较灵活,考查对高中知识的掌握和逻辑能力。
ACT考试直接测量考生的分析、解决问题和批判性评价书面材料等高校学习所必需的能力与技能,共由五部分组成:文章改错(English)、数学(Math)、阅读(Reading)、科学推理(Science)和写作(Writing),其中写作为选考部分。考试时间共175分钟,其中文章改错45分钟(75道题目),数学60分钟(60道题目),阅读35分钟(40道题目),科学推理35分钟(40道题目)。非必选的写作测试时间为30分钟。
ACT考试不同于以往检测学生对所学习知识掌握程度的终结性考试,而是一种着眼于对学生学习能力、性向和适应性测验的配置性考试。文章改错测试旨在测量考生对书面英语的理解与分析能力;数学测试旨在测量考生的定量推理能力;阅读测试旨在测量考生理解、分析、评价性推理和解决问题的能力;科学推理测试旨在测量考生运用图表、表格和研究总结等方式处理科学概念的能力;写作测试旨在测试学生的英语写作能力。在中国内地,ACT考试在北京、昆明、沈阳等地开设了考点,每年举行5次,具体时间分别是2月中、4月中、6月初、10月底和12月初。国际考试费用(包括国际考试附加费):ACT标准考试69.5美元,ACT标准考试加写作85.5美元。
